मुद्राएं न सिर्फ 'सादगी', बल्कि किसी राष्ट्र की 'स्थिरता' को दर्शाती हैं| विमुद्रीकरण एक आर्थिक गतिविधि है जिसके अंतर्गत सरकार पुरानी मुद्रा को समाप्त कर नई मुद्रा को चालू करती है| जब काला धन बढ़ जाता है और
अर्थव्यवस्था के लिए खतरा बन जाता है तब हम विमुद्रीकरण का प्रयोग करते हैं, जिससे काला धन नष्ट हो जाता है|

8 नवंबर 2016 को न्यूनतम शासन अधिकतम अधिक शासन अपने धेय वाक्य को चरितार्थ करते हुए माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने ₹1000 व ₹500 के उच्च मूल्य वर्ग के नोटों की कानूनी निविदा रद्द कर के नए ₹2000 व ₹500 के नोटों का मुद्रण किया| यह कठोर कदम अल्पकालिक कठिनाइयों एवं देश के दीर्घावधिक लाभ को ध्यान में रखकर उठाया गया| अर्थव्यवस्था में नकली मुद्रा के बढ़ते खतरे, बड़े पैमाने पर काले धन का संचय, आतंकी वित्तपोषण, बड़े स्तर पर कर चोरी के कई मामले, तस्करी परिसंचरण प्रभावी ढंग से इस पहल के माध्यम से रोका जा सकता है|

विमुद्रीकरण के बाद मुद्रा की कमी के कारण बैंकों, डाकघरों एवं ATM में लंबी कतारें लगी, फर्मों में फंड की कमी, व्यापार और वाणिज्य गतिविधियों में कमी, रोजमर्रा की बेरोजगारी जैसी असुविधा आम जनता को उठानी पड़ी|

भारत में पहली बार चौथे प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोरारजी देसाई द्वारा सन 1978 में एक कानून बनाकर विमुद्रीकरण किया गया था| जिसमें 1000, 5000 और 10000 के नोटों का विमुद्रीकरण किया गया था|

आरबीआई के अनुसार 31 मार्च 2016 तक भारत में 16.42 लाख करोड़ मूल्य के नोट बाजार में उपलब्ध थे, जिसमें से 14.18 लाख करोड़ 500 व 1000 रुपए के नोटों के रूप में मौजूद थे इसलिए विमुद्रीकरण का यह सही समय था|

भारत की ही तर्ज पर वेनेजुएला में विमुद्रीकरण अपनाया गया पर इसकी वजह से वहां की अर्थव्यवस्था चरमरा गई और वहां की सरकार को इसे वापस लेना पड़ा|

विमुद्रीकरण इतने बड़े पैमाने पर सफलतापूर्वक सिर्फ भारत में ही हो पाया| अस्थाई तौर पर लोगों को परेशानी का सामना तो करना पड़ा परंतु सरकार का यह कदम भारत की जनता व अर्थव्यवस्था के लिए बहुत ही लाभकारी सिद्ध होगी|

Currencies not only represent 'simplicity', but 'stability' of a nation. Demonstration is an economic activity under which the government ends the old currency and launches the new currency. When black money rises and becomes a threat to the economy, then we use demonetization, which destroys black money.

On 8th November 2016, while minimizing the maximum rule of governance, the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi canceled the legal tender of notes of high value class of 1000 and 500 rupees and printed new ₹ 2000 and ₹ 500 notes. | This stricter step was taken keeping in mind the short-term difficulties and long-term benefits of the country. Increasing dangers of counterfeit currency in the economy, massive black money accumulation, terrorist financing, many cases of tax evasion at large, trafficking circulation can effectively be prevented through this initiative.

Due to lack of currency after demonetization, long queues were started in banks, post offices and ATM, lack of funding in firms, decrease in trade and commerce activities, and general public unemployment such as unemployment had to be raised.

For the first time in India, the fourth Prime Minister, Mr Morarji Desai was empowered in 1978 by making a law. In which 1000, 5000 and 10000 notes were monetized.

According to RBI, the notes of Rs 16.42 lakh crore were available in the market till March 31, 2016, out of which 14.18 lakh crore 500 and 1000 rupees were present as notes, hence this was the right time of demonetization.

On the lines of India, the monopolization was adopted in Venezuela, but due to this the economy of the economy was devastated and the government there had to withdraw it.
 
Demonstrations were successfully successful in India only on such a large scale. Temporarily, people had to face the problem but this move of the government would prove to be very beneficial for the people and economy of India.
