SSC CGL preparation strategy and Previous Years Analysis

SSC CGL is one of the tough examinations processed by Service Selection Commission. Securing cutoff mark in SSC CGL does not confirm final selection. Cutoff marks are the minimum marks for which the candidates are qualified.
SSC is going to organize it preliminary examination for SSC CGL in the month of May. There are only two months left for the preparation of prelim exam. If you are studying hard and securing much mark than previous year’s cutoff then it is good, otherwise you have to change your preparation methodology. You must keep a target score in your mind and on the basis of that you have to start you preparation.

What should be target Score in Preliminary Examination: -

As I told you that scoring cutoff marks does not assure final selection. For different categories Like General, OBC and SC/ST etc. have to set a target score in preliminary examination. If you belong to General Category and if you want final selection with your first preference then you must score above 140 marks in your preliminary examination. Scoring 140 could be hard as only 898 General candidates have secured this much marks. But a preparation in right guidance and with right practice sets can result good marks. Here I’m providing you Success Mantra that how you can achieve above 140 marks in your prelim exam: -

Divide your subject-wise preparation in study preference list: -
  1. Mathematics
  2. English
  3. Reasoning
  4. General Studies
Now, let start your preparation in preference order: -

How to Study Mathematics: -
  • First of all you should study all mathematics chapters deeply with at least 200 questions from each chapter. If you didn’t study each chapters well then forget scoring 140 marks in prelim.
  • Second, buy previous years practice set specially for mathematics and then daily solve at least 200 questions.
  • Set a time while solving practice sets through which you can know your efficiency and performance.
  • All 50 questions must be solved in 40 minutes. It is not an easy task but a lot of practice can make it possible.
  • Your target should be 40+ Marks in mathematics in 40 minutes.

How to Study English: -
  • Most of the SSC aspirant face problem in English and could not secure good marks in it.
  • Those, who are good in English, can achieve 40+ marks in English easily. But for those, who afraid of English have to focus on some specific matters.
  • Buy any previous year practice set for specially English and then learn all the previous year vocabulary, one word, idiom/phrases, and phrasal verbs.

  •  Some of the books provide specific grammar rule in their books, just read them all.
  • Daily solve practice sets as much as you can. Only some grammar rules are their which are coming in exam again and again which you can observe while solving practice sets.
  • Your goal must be to score 35+ marks in maximum 20 minutes.
How to Study General Studies: -
  • Read regular current affairs.
  • Take any book like lucent and learn science.
  • Read previous year question, which will be much helpful to you.
  • A regular little bit study in General Studies can give you 20+ marks in 10 minute.
How to Study Reasoning: -
  • Reasoning is scoring subject in prelim examination which involves less effort. Clear you concept in all reasoning topics.

  • A little effort can result in scoring 40+ Marks in reasoning within 30 minutes
Time Management for prelim exam time with preference of subject at examination time:-
